Well it is now spring time and hasn’t the weather certainly changed. We have had some lovely rain and everything looks so green and fresh. The last month has been a busy one for us here at Yalllambee.
We have had Shelly sadly depart us, but on a good note she will have a lovely bundle of joy join their family in 2 weeks time. Good luck Shelly. Chris has slipped back into the roll and joined the DT department again which is good to see. Welcome back Chris.
On the 5th of October, Cecelia King came and graced us with her wonderful musical talents, which everyone enjoyed and had a wonderful morning singing along.
On the 11th of October we had Len and John came and entertained us for the morning with their wonderful singing and musical talents. Our residents had a wonderful morning singing along. Thank you Len and John.
We also had the boys from the IGA, Damain and Rohan bring down the movie equipment for the screening of “Herbie”. This made our moving screening afternoon a wonderful experience, by having the big screen and the Surround Sound system.
Walking into the lounge room felt like a movie theatre. The experience was also enhanced with the yummy treats of fresh popcorn and spiders to drink. We would like to express our gratitude and say a big thank you to Damain and Rohan for taking the time out of their busy day to make this possible.
On the 12th of October we had our fortnightly visit to the library and morning tea visit to Pud’s Place . Sadly, the weather was not in our favour this day and we were unable to attend the library, but with the use of the bus we were still able to attend the café for morning tea. What a wonderful morning was had by all who attended with all the yummy food and drinks they have. A massive thank you must always go to the staff at Pud’s Place for the wonderful service we receive every fortnight. We cant wait until our next visit.
On the 24th of October we will be entertained for the morning by the Presbyterian ladies. These ladies are welcomed with open arms with their musical skills that they bring as well as the yummy treats they bring along for morning tea. We cant wait for them to come and entertain us for the morning.
On the 26th of October we will be holding our residents BBQ lunch. I know that our residents look forward to this during the month. All the yummy food that the kitchen prepare is amazing and we would like to thank them for this, but I can’t forget about the wonderful job that Anthony does with cooking all the meat for the BBQ. Thank you so much Anthony.
We have had for the last 2 weeks a special lot of visitors at our facility, and no I don’t mean the human visitors. We have had the wonderful experience of witnessing our very own chickens hatch right in front of our eyes. This has been the most amazing and exciting experience to witness with all our residents being able to watch this occur. Once hatched they then stay with us here for 2 weeks as we watch them grow and then we get to rehome them.
Some of he staff have been happy to help with this which is exciting for them. Thank you so much Henny Penny Hatching for giving us the chance to witness this.
The DT department would like to give a massive thank you to Gail Wingett who is also one of our carers here for the kind donation of a Bluetooth stereo. This piece of equipment will come in handy with allowing us to offer residents music no mater were we are in the facility. Thank you again Gail it means a lot.
We also had a visit from a very woolly friend. Katrina Stewart was kind enough to bring in one of the many baby lambs they have had born this spring. The residents were super excited for this and there were smiles from ear to ear as the lamb went and visited very resident. Thank you so much Katrina for this it was a wonderful visit which was highly enjoyed. We hope to be having more visitors from Katrina but I think we might keep that one a secret.
Next month’s program is going to be jam packed with some changes to the program, which us, the DT department are extremely excited about. Melbourne Cup, Remembrance Day, mystery bus tours even a petting zoo to name a few things.
We are busting at the seams for next month’s program.
Well that’s about it from us here at the DT department, we cant wait to finish off this month’s busy programme with you and look forward to the next month ahead.
Chris, Geoff and Lucy
